The end of our concert season is fast approaching, and with that comes the election of members to the West County Winds Board of Directors. We need you! By lending your time and skills, you can help the Board make this nonprofit run smoothly.
Listed below are the positions up for election and a short description of their duties. If you think you’d be a great fit for any of the positions and want to be one of the nominees, please e-mail our President Cherry Normington at email@example.com. Also, if you have any questions about the positions you can ask any of our incumbents for more information.
Secretary (currently Bennett, clarinet)
Our Secretary is responsible for taking meeting minutes and distributing them to members, as well as taking attendance at rehearsals and concerts and maintaining our membership roster. They are additionally in charge of notifying all members of rehearsal and performance times/locations. The Secretary acts as our liaison between West County Winds and the Association of Concert Bands regarding ASCAP/BMI royalty payments for performances.
Fund Raiser (currently unfilled)
The Fund Raiser for West County Winds is in charge of soliciting donations (money, goods, services) from organizations and individuals to support our operations. This includes initiating and maintaining fundraising campaigns and all related correspondence.
Treasurer (currently Ellen, flute)
The Treasurer receives and disburses revenues for West County Winds. They maintain our checking and investment accounts, keep detailed financial records and issue periodic statements to the Board of Directors. This officer also prepares a budget and financial report for the fiscal year and coordinates all financial information required for taxes and government reporting.
Concert Coordinator (currently David, saxophone)
The Concert Coordinator books our performance venues and prepares the concert calendar in conjunction with the President and Artistic Director. This officer also works with the Logistics Manager to solidify performance specifics and day-of-concert needs.
Logistics Manager (currently David, saxophone)
The Logistics Manager makes arrangements to take care of instrumental and equipment needs for West County Winds’ rehearsals and performances. They additionally manage set-up, tear-down, and transportation of equipment to and from performances. Volunteer recruitment from within the membership and management for these tasks are main components of their duties.
Nominations will be taken at our rehearsals on April 28, 2014, and May 5, 2014.
Elections will be held the following rehearsal on May 12, 2014.
